When you invite a friend to participate in an activity that you enjoy you are, in a sense, inviting the distinct possibility of irritation or even animosity into your life and your relationship with your friend.

Nothing says competition and envy better than someone you know doing better at an activity you’ve always prided yourself upon or enjoyed just for fun.

"Progress" is insidioudly sneaky!

My goal is to reach my goal. And stay there. No more supposed cycle of flippin' contiuous improvement!

On escaping decades-long coercive control, I'm not looking for a Type A man. In fact, I'm not actively "looking". However", I'm on their radar, which is flattering. But, I'm discerning and red flags? They're a real thing! Type B...Beta-male is a healthier choice for me.

So, for me there is no trying to do better each time. It's a matter of finding my personal sweet spot and staying there. In all things. ALL THINGS. Life, relationships (romantic and platonic). Weight. Finances. The works! 😊

Contentment is my goal. Happiness is a marketing myth.

Question (hoping I don't read as a Numbnut)...what does "aggravated IT band" mean???🤣🤣

You're not a numbnut! (And for what it's worth, I think the smartest people are the ones who ask.) It's shorthand for iliotibial band syndrome, a common running injury where a tendon in your leg (the aforementioned "IT band") gets very angry. It can happen for all sorts of reasons, but definitely isn't aided by jumping into a new exercise program without properly building up to it! 😬

Thanx, I had no clue (guess I could've googled).

It sounds very unpleasant, to say the least.

This is profound. Absolutely agree and I love this line...

"Now that December is upon us, you can practically hear the tens-of-billions-of-dollars-deep “self-improvement” industry gearing up to pounce just in time for the New Year. "

Pounce. Perfect word.

Im inspired to not better myself. No wonder so many people have such there mental health. We are constantly told we are not enough.
