What a beautiful way to write about time, perspective and space. I have upgraded and am now a proud paid subscriber! I am sorry it took me so long to get my act together. Time was moving and I wasn't. I feel like I have slightly caught up with what is important. Thank you Caroline :)
Thank you so much for upgrading! No need to apologize — any time is a good time and your support is very much appreciated. I am thrilled to have you here. (And now you can read the Wednesday interviews, too. They're secretly my favorite!)
When I had my car accident at 16, I thought often about mortality and about how anything can change at any moment, but then you get busy living and forget.
Happy birthday, my Aries sister! I, too, have a birthday later this week. Enjoy yours to the fullest! Time is the trickster and I laughed when I saw the card of the week was The Hanged Man (the worst card for an impatient Ariest to pull); the first thing we see is delay; we forget that the other is the changed perspective. Regarding time: I'm not proud of the fact that I am an F1 fan (really, it's ethically problematic), and I get so frustrated when they take away the lap time in the side view, because I want to know how my driver is doing (so I can yell at him to do better or congratulate him on his time...see, sexism is one of the problems I have with F1...still, it's fun, especially to yell at the TV?). We put so much pressure on time, rather than enjoying what we have, like you do with your pup. You are a wonderful writer and contributor to this space. Thank you. xo
Thank you!! Happy birthday! Mine isn't until the 19th but I'm ahead of schedule on the ruminating this year (did somebody say impatient? :) And I hear you on the F1. Totally problematic on multiple fronts, yet I share your inability to look away! There is something so compelling about that place where speed, skill, and strategy intersect. Many thanks for the kind words. I am grateful you are part of this community!
There is so much in this post I can relate to. From feeling the urgency to make every moment meaningful with my pets (I’ve outlived too many in my 53 years) to taking control of how I spend my time (teachers could spend 24/7 and still not have everything done). And rituals. I can’t wait to see what you are writing ten years from now. Oh yeah, patience. I guess I can wait!
As someone who is both in a season of waiting (in many life areas) and is embarking on a giant project (hello, dissertation), this post very much resonated with me and was what I needed. Thank you, Caroline!! <3
I lost my beloved cat unexpectedly last year, so this hit home. Glad you have such a lovely daily companion <3
Also, I bought my first tarot deck(s) this weekend! I got a pocket-sized Rider-Waite-Smith deck at a local shop, and ordered the Modern Witch deck from Etsy! I've been reading the "True Heart" Intuitive Tarot by Rachel True as a companion, and it's been lovely so far. Thanks for your recs last week!!
I so enjoyed this. It is so very hard to Take Time Out and step away from all of the obligations, challenges and complexities of daily life and I'm finding that impossible to do at the moment. Self-care is completely essential and yet seemingly impossible to find time for.... thank you for your writing and wishing you a happy ..9th birthday!
Proprioception, as you point out, is a form of self awareness that is seldom considered either in print, discussion or internally. We’re often used to projecting ourselves or our opinions or, conversely, absorbing the projections of others that we fail to grasp that how we act and think is entirely within our own control.
It’s awareness of the present, this moment, now - not the regrets or memories of the past and certainly not the anxieties and fears of the future. This moment is the future past and, as such, is completely within our control if we are in the moment.
It requires nothing more than consciously stopping - now - and listening to our heart beat, our breathing and any body discomfort to sense either calmness and good energy or hypertension and stress.
I firmly believe that if each of us did this even once a day we’d begin to take better care of our bodies, minds, emotions and spirits.
“Now is as good a time as any.” For anything! Invigorating to think about it.
Thank you, Lizzie!

Thank goodness we’re here though.
That's so true, how awareness comes in waves. Living, forgetting, remembering. But perhaps there is no other way.

I am so sorry to hear about your cat. They really are best friends and family members. A true loss.
That sounds like the perfect choice of decks! Covering all bases, and they will complement each other nicely. Please continue to keep me posted. :)
So good this week-- I mean, it always is, but the X Men observation just got me.
Thank you so much, Laura. ❤️

Thank you, Adam! That gave me a good laugh at the end. I'm very excited to turn 9!
“Too often in life, we can find ourselves procrastinating living.” This one hit me! Thanks for the perspective check-in
Thank you. ❤️
Beautifully said! And I love your pup. And your wall paint ;) Any chance you can share the shade?
Thank you! Yes, the shade is Poppy Seed, by Behr.
Thank you so much. It’s perfect!

Wait, what? I remember reading your "Tomorrow, I'm old" post about turning 30. I've been reading your stuff for almost 10 years? What? Girl.
HAHAHA, oh my goodness, I forgot I wrote that! Thank you for reminding me, but also for reading for all these years! That's wild.
