I look forward to reading your newsletter every Sunday! It’s a great way to start a new week (and reflect on the previous one) with a fresh perspective.
I haven’t—I’ll have to check her out! I’ve been very much into bits I’ve come across from the natural burial movement though. Seems like ritual can give some ownership back. Thinking of the knights you mentioned or like ancient Egypt where death, and preparing for it as a rite of passage, was a way of life.
Love the Death reframe! Been working so much on mindset lately. Not that I must discount whatever was painful or hard or messy, but that it’s ok that it was and there doesn’t need to be any shoulds about it. When do you think our species became so allergic to death in all its forms?
Hm. As a species, we seem to be pretty anti-things-we-have-no-control-over. But from a cultural perspective, I believe it was relatively recent. In the Victorian era, death was a frequent presence and certainly not as shrouded as it is today. Our allergic avoidance is its own sort of privilege, I guess, whether it's the healthiest or not. Have you read anything by Caitlin Doughty? She's an advocate of death acceptance and reforming Western funeral practices and eloquently tackles a lot of points that most in our culture won't touch.
Caroline, you are a wonder. As my usually, blessedly steady life (let's get real-not always) has recently gotten quite icky, with tons of questions about 'now what'!? your words have me taking deep breaths and feeling calmer. I will go out today taking that calm with me. Thank you dearie. I hope that you have a very good day.

Thank you so much. That means a lot! ❤️
"It’s incredible, the energy I’ve devoted to red flags when one white flag was all I needed." Damn, Donofrio. That's magic.
Thank you, friend. ❤️
Well this was right on time. Thank you friend <3

Thank you so much, Bernadette. I'm sorry to hear about the ickiness, but I hope you have a good (calm) week. Sending warm wishes your way.
Another thoughtful and thought provoking read to start my week, I loved it, thank you.

Another one that was exactly what I needed today!
