"ample wearing of shoes" made me snort laugh! Hope you're feeling better after you survived a marathon and the aftermath - all of those individually is a lot but you had a trifecta! High five for survival!!
This post hit different. Success is not what we expect it to look like in most cases, yet we rarely talk about it because we’re so floored by it. Thank you for going there🌹
The post race blues are REAL! I finished a race a couple of weeks ago and did exactly as you said "questioning my life choices and wondering how I might change them." Thanks for being so freaking relatable!
Well Caroline, you did it! You put your heart and soul into that marathon, and you should be proud of yourself. Afterwards there were not-so-great expectations but sadly that's part of life. So sorry that you got hurt and got Covid. Now it's time to slow down and take care of yourself. Take you for sharing the good, the bad and the ugly.
Recently ran Berlin and had a similar crash experience afterwards, both physically (I got pneumonia?!) and emotionally. I am still finding it hard to separate the crash from the beauty that was the race itself. This newsletter helped me! Thank you
This was such a lovely post, so well written, and so relatable to almost anything. I'm an artisan who moved from Brooklyn to CT over 7 years ago. I just did my first NYC craft event after doing events in CT for 2 years. My expectations were so different than what I envisioned but the results were so significant and inspiring. BTW, I don't how you ran in that heat! Kudos.
Caroline, thank you for the temperatures in Celsius and Fahrenheit. What a treat to not have to convert it! And well done on the marathon, amazing effort!
I think somehow society thought me to expect that after you finish a big project everything will be resolved and amazing - just like with happily ever afters in relationships. I have had to unlearn that (after finishing a PhD) and realized that doing a challenging project brings up many things (emotions, thoughts, patterns) and it is only after you finish that there is space to process all that resulted from that project. There is so much possibility for growth in the "afters" and it is sometimes hard. Thank you so much for your honest tale of the after!
Congratulations Carrie! A marathon is not a wee goal. And Covid right after a grueling marathon must of really knocked you down. That’s tough my friend. As always, your insight, grace and ability to communicate inspire. Thank you for sharing.

"How to reframe a difficult or disappointing experience as one of resilience." THIS. This was the sentence I needed to read today. Thank you <3

Caroline—just thank you so much for being here and doing what you do.

Congratulations on finishing the race. Being human is hard, but definitely beautiful. Rest well. Loved this post friend. xx

I enjoy your newsletters so much. You are doing the work, and helping us all see how we can do it too. Thank you.

Steadily and beautifully put x
Thank you for that card. It was just what I needed tonight.
