I'm overwhelmed (in the best possible way) that everyone wants to know the book! I purposefully left the title out, not because I don't want to recommend it, but because I don't want anyone to go zoom in on the meh reviews. Plus, I'd like to offer some context about why I love it. BUT I'm working on a piece about books I've enjoyed recently, and I promise it will be featured. To not keep everyone waiting, I'll post it next week!
(And if you're imminently leaving for a trip, etc. and desperate for the title before that, email me and I'll tell you. :)
i work in publishing and this happens to me all the time—i’ll check reviews of my fav titles a few months after they pub and the two- or three- star reviews are so painful (i can’t even look at a one-star review). and when the review is for a galley and the reader didn’t have the final version…lol. this is getting in the weeds. tysm, caroline, for another great letter!
Thank you, just quit a large dispensary I was so excited to work in and.. was hazed, I learned once again we have a lot of work to do. This resonated so much right now. I am obsessed with connecting with others, we are always on our phones. How many strangers can we chat with, connect or leave feeling better than when we met. women are powerful.
I totally get what you're saying about reviews - they can be downright ridiculous! It reminded me of all those trip advisor reviews of various landmarks: "Grand Canyon - 2 stars - yeah it's big but there's not much to do unless you're into hiking..." "Washington Monument - 1 star - It is on a mall but there's no shopping there and the parking is terrible!" 😂
Hahaha, yes! Apparently The Bible has a collection of 1 star reviews "takes a while to get into the story." My favorite is when the review has nothing to do with the writing, but still drags the rating down. "Ms. Moore is a fine writer, but the book was a bit too heavy to comfortably hold in bed."
Please ! The book! Have discovered many authors on your recommendation, and they were almost always just what I look for - thank you for all your work!
Same as the other comments-need to know the name of this book! Loved all of your writing, love this newsletter-can’t imagine I wouldn’t love this book too!
Yes, name of the book please? And so well put ... could not agree more. I actually feel if you have nothing nice to say ... get on with your own life and keep your opinions to yourself. I only do positive reviews who has enough quality time in life to spend it on a negative review. You make my Sunday bedtime reads wonderful. THANK YOU!
I went through this exercise JUST last night. Floored by a book, a gorgeous debut, and the reviews were peppered with meh and suggestions as to how the author’s prose could improve.
Please don't leave us hanging! What is this amazing book??? I need a new read, almost done with my current.

Exactly!!! This is what I was about to say. We need to know the name of this book 😁
I loved your meditation on the Moon card here.
.. and looking forward to your book list!
Yesss!!!
It caused me to contemplate... book reviews are akin to people reviews (aka: judgements).
Not everyone likes everybody. Some people cannot even know why.
We cannot know what we cannot understand, just as a child cannot walk until it's ready, tge wingless cannot fly.
Sadly, I experience that some in this world are "sleepers" or "surface dwellers".
WYDKYDK.🙂
Solid Moon card comments. Thank you,
Really loved the thoughts about the moon card! 🌘
